We are pleased to send you the following two announcements:

 

Master Program in

“Health Technology Assessment, Evidence-based Healthcare and Decision Science (HTADS)”

at UMIT – University for Health Sciences, Medical Informatics and Technology, Hall i.T., Austria

will start in Fall 2010*

 

The HTADS Master is worldwide the first Master program of its kind that is built on the three pillars Health Technology Assessment (HTA), Evidence-based Healthcare (EBHC) and Decision Science (DS).

The HTADS Master Program will start in October 2010* and combines lectures, discussions, case study group work, and hands-on computer lab sessions within its 13 modular weeks. The Program covers the following subjects:

  • HTA principles, methods and practice
  • Methods in biostatistics, clinical epidemiology and EbM
  • Systematic reviews & meta-analysis
  • Economic evaluation
  • Decision-analytic modeling
  • Health outcomes and quality of life
  • Health policy management, health care systems and reimbursement

In addition to the 13 modular weeks, students have to complete an eight-week internship and write a Master Thesis including a colloquium.


 

Third 4-Day Certified Course

“Introduction to Health Technology Assessment”

October 4-7, 2010

at UMIT – University for Health Sciences, Medical Informatics and Technology, Hall i.T., Austria.

The 4-day introductory course in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) combines lectures, discussions, case study group work, and hands-on computer lab session in the key elements and methods of HTA and Decision Sciences and covers the following subjects:

  • HTA key principles and practice
  • Methods in biostatistics, clinical epidemiology, and EbM
  • Patient-relevant outcome measures
  • Critical study appraisal
  • Systematic reviews & meta-analysis
  • Economic evaluation and pricing
  • Decision-analytic modeling (+ Computer tutorial)
  • Context-specific application of HTA
  • HTA from different perspectives (agency, industry, decision maker etc.)

Both, the Master Program and the Continuing Education Course are part of the International HTADS Continuing Education Program developed by the Institute of Public Health, Medical Decision Making and Health Technology Assessment, Department of Public Health, Information Systems and Health Technology Assessment (Chair: Prof. Dr. Uwe Siebert) at UMIT. The HTADS Program was designed to provide excellent quality education and comprehensive training in the key issues of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Decision Sciences (DS) for anyone involved in the health sector.

La Red de Políticas Basadas en Evidencia (Evidence-Based Policy in Development Network - EBPDN) fue creada en el marco del Programa de Alianzas de la Sociedad Civil del Overseas Development Institute (ODI-DFID), el cual tiene por objetivo establecer una comunidad de práctica global conformada por think tanks, institutos de investigación y organizaciones similares que promuevan políticas de desarrollo basadas en la evidencia.  EBPDN cuenta con capítulos en América Latina, Asia, África y el Sudeste Asiático.  Para mayor información favor visitar: www.ebpdn.org.

El capítulo latinoamericano de EBPDN cuenta con un componente de investigación coordinado por el Consorcio de Investigación  Económica y Social (CIES, Perú), el cual tiene por objetivo explorar desde una perspectiva interdisciplinaria las interfaces entre la investigación y la política en América Latina.  

Esta convocatoria está dirigida a investigadores residentes en América Latina o especializados en la región.  Los interesados puede remitir su postulación a título personal o institucional.
